An year in life, 2010-2011. One of the mysterious years. Summer of 2010 itself was so gloomy with Intel internship not starting, which wasn't a big deal once you know you did your best to do find an internship, got it but didn't start due to some strangest reasons,as they say "Man proposes God disposes". Summer at New Media innovation lab was quite interesting with work varying from Wordpress learning to Mobile web stuff. Summer ended with even stranger void in life, 6 August 2010 Nanuji (my father) winked at me on some joke (man's joke :) and I thought your father becomes a friend the day when he is comfortable winking at you at that time and even you are comfortable. That friendship wasn't meant to be long at least physically. 8 August to 8 October, 2 months of living in a hell. Seeing someone die everyday is like some part of you dying every second. 8 October was the day he left us physically, in those 2 months I came to know what it meant to be "man of family", and my life changed forever. Next 10 months were like I was doing things for which I was too young. Everyday was like a test, sometimes I had the answers sometimes or rather most of the days I failed miserably.

Learning from your mistakes is best way of learning new things. I found "you can be as mad as a mad dog but then you have to let it go".

I talked with several different people with completely different background. I found people shouldn't be judged by their appearance, wealth or any materialistic things. A person can be your Krishna, your Bhagwat and you should respect everyone and anyone. A person who isn't nice to you, try forgiving him/her and those who love you try to be with them forever.

Saw days where I just couldn't answer why? I found that people have come up with there struggle phase and that is unavoidable, you can only make it easier by "never giving up" and always carrying a smile on your face would do 90% job.

People change drastically at some point of time. I found that having expectation from anyone is like expecting sun would rise from west.

You never know the future and probability. I found that you haven't seen the future so don't think you can do this thing in future. Do it today and plan for tomorrow too, because someone else might rely on your planning.

Money is one thing which is always scarce. I found that more you run behind money the more you will run, it is necessity but you shouldn't make it your obsession. You won't have time for others than to use that money fruitfully.

Success is a parameter set by you. I found that for someone success is being on top of world and while, for someone else its earning a piece of bread for his children everyday. Life is a strange after all.

You can do anything. I found that result is not in your hand, but you can try everything. If its meant to work it will and if not you won't be able to make it happen anyhow. Yes but try your very best so that you won't be sorry afterwards.

Never run from your responsibilities. I found that running away from things is worst decision in life, and taking help of materialistic things like alcohol is even worse. Satisfaction is in your brain not in things.

These were some of the things I saw too closely, I feel I was lucky to have a person like him in my life who trained me for everything in life. The Guru I could have asked for was my own Nanuji.

Hello World! Seems to be the time when I feel like blogging, mid of the semester when so many things are going on. The hunt for something is always there, at the moment its summer internship/something constructive to do in summers. Sometimes I feel that because of the hunger to hunt I have forgotten about very basic concept of "Try to keep it simple and stupid". Expectations are always building up mostly not from others but from me itself. Today saw a video in which Virendra Sehwag talks about Sachin Tendulkar's greatest achievement "200 runs in an ODI match". He said that when Sachin was close to the achievement last time, when he scored 175 runs against Australia, but couldn't achieve it he humbly said "If its in my fate I will achieve it". Sachin always inspires me, his humble nature mixed with hard work does the job. I tell myself in the end "don't worry just work and work, if its in your fate you will achieve it".

The 50th one!

Saw that this will be my 50th post. 2 years of blogging has been really a nice experience. In this post I mainly see back my last one year "2009". The year where I traveled a lot (Land of dreams, city of lights, beautiful beaches) saw lots of people suffer (everyone in family was going through some problems), saw lots of close one's leave (some left forever and some didn't left me a chance to stay with them further), made lots of new friends (friends made in France, friends made in US).

Next year 2010 will be a whole new experience, I hope it is for best. Happy new year to all of you and I hope it goes well for all of us.

USA and my first Semester as master's student

So finally got enough time to think and write down what I think. So after awesome experience in France, spending a month at home is always best time. In the middle went to Manipal which was like one more trip to heaven, the weather in Manipal just sets up the mood. Now next trip was to USA, an unknown land to me but as they say its always exciting to explore new places. Well the exploring part was more intellectual till now rather than exploring different parts of USA. Have finally figured out what does research means to different people, atleast to me it means that I should be able to make something work in the end of my research and people can use it. People here are really friendly and a big misconception that American's have limited knowledge about world outside USA isn't completely true. At least some of those I met were really smart people, thinking about what they will do in like next 5-10 years. American's have tendency of wasting things also like the one promptly seen was wasting electricity (all there stores have all lights open even at night when shops are closed, they even don't switch there LCD panels) and at the other end they want to move to solar powered systems and how to conserve energy, recycle everything (which is good approach). This trip is really helping me to understand how to handle pressure in tough situations esp. when deadlines are around you and nothing is working. Will be back to India again in winter and really hope to get good amount of rest before gearing up again for next semester.

Was listening to this song by The Killers and I felt like so much has changed in my life, from school to college everything has changed.

I have changed the friends have changed the situation has changed the whole life has changed. The innocence of school is long gone, college time is over where everyone is so relaxed and only motive is to enjoy in life with friends, then France internship is over where Friendship showed new and beautiful chapters in life, recently Manipal days are also over which were best days in my life.

Now heading to new destination and finally going to that place where even my grandfather visited 44 years ago then my uncle visited and now I will be also going there and become Sun Devil! Life is such a big mystery where you don't know what will you be doing next second. Is it all fixed for you? Is this the path which eventually you would have opted? Was this the boulevard that will lead you to your destiny? These questions always ponder in mind and I just think that God is there to help me! Just flow with this river and you will reach the destination.

The Internship @ France

Sometimes I look back at my life and think what I achieved if anything I always feel that I am successful, as I made such good friends everytime. The life has been so kind to me that there has always been good people around me.

France experience was amazing in every way. Not only you learn so many things academically but you learn more on other side of life. Dancing on the music of your destiny is magical experience. Life has shown so many different faces and each face gives you another lesson, Hope the future lessons are helpful too.

Where these guys tell the inside story of "TechTatva". They mention at one place that suddenly one guy says chalo yaar "Microsoft" coming for placement in between of TechTatva, and being one of the person who was organiser and was interviewed by Mircosoft I know that it didnt happen between TechTatva! Whom are you complaining against? Students got placed this year were very lucky ones! And other thing said as Arindham Sinha was unknown before techtatva, guys do you even know that he is one of the two MITians who were selected for interview at the prestigious "KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) " research program.

I understand to win or become successful you just need to work and really anybody who gets these opportunities like TechTatva tries to do his/her best. And we really try to take our level to next level maybe the author of this article didnt realise this but 4 years ago the first techtatva saw robotics (level was very basic) where I and Arindham participated as seperate team but I think both of us were focussed on long term goals and tried to take things to next level personally and also in techtatva after 4 years, where you saw events which couldnt be imagined 4 years back maybe.

I personally give him lots of credit for TechTatva where he did his best job, he trusted me and my vision on my events.

FRENCH OPEN

The experience was magical there when I saw Safina vs Kaznetsova match where the 7th seeded just outplayed Safina. Next match was between Men's Double where Leander Paes played with his Czech teammate and they were just Champions they played like champions and had heart of champions. Leander got hurt in his eyes but the champs always say "Never say die" and after that its impossible to stop them 3-6, 6-3,6-2 looks so easy for them!

The Internship

Internship at ESIGELEC, Rouen, France.

Internship in a country which is famous for its art, language and culture is a real experience.

Meeting students from all parts of world is even much better. France has students from African countries (As most of these countries speak French as they were at a time French colonies), Spain, India, Gulf countries, Japan, China and many more.

The internship actually taught me Cooking, Bowling, Walking continuously for more than 20kms and obviously my project work taught me something which I would never have done in my career.

Here I came to know "Why Bollywood is important", its one of the only source for youths to find What India is all about!

They agree that India and Indians are one of the most Lively ones.

The Monaco Chance!!

Before even coming to France I had no idea that there exists a 1.9 square KM country named as Monaco located in South France.

One of the most expensive country in world where they say that you can be even charged for Breathing!!

Now there is a Nokia Developers summit on 28-29 April,2009 and its being conducted at Monaco, for 200 euro and being FNC the registration fees is free and they even have booked a grand hotel for us. Now travelling to Monaco means 6.5 Hrs by TGV and around 150-200 euros of expense.

Also would need a visa for Monaco! so another 30-50 euros.

So this is tragic for me that thing which is so close is so far for me now!

For every developer there are some dreams which she/he wants to achieve some day for example for Robotics developers its Robocon, for people related to sciences its Noble prize and for Mobile developers its surely FNC. I never thought I would actually become FNC one day, because the people present here on Forum Nokia are more aware, more intelligent and more talented then I could ever be in this field. There are many Forums related to Mobile development but very few have such talented members and even fewer have such diversified areas (threads) to discuss upon and hardly does anyone promote a novice to FNC, I have witnessed it here, myself. Thank you very much to everyone here on Forum Nokia.

My journey to Rouen started with Air France. One of the best airlines with very good service they really do care about their customers.

Rouen is an old city of France, its also Capital of upper Normandy Region. City filled with smiling faces and people always ready to help you. No experience with French language is only problem that I faced here, but I am trying to learn it a bit. My Hostel is good but almost like 1 hour from college (ESIGELEC). Metro system is a miniature of Delhi's Mega metro system, but metro system is well supported here with Buses which are far more comfortable then any bus I have traveled in.

Its good to be in a foreign country as you learn many new things and meet interesting people.

Internship, Home and College Over

College is finally over. Manipal Chapter is finally over. Will seriously miss it for long long time.

Next six months are due for internship, will have to work on a project in institute.

Home seems to be nice but still lonely, friends of Manipal are missing here, school friends are here but Manipal was totally different.

I am doing nothing now a days, atleast academically I am totally dormant. Soon will start some new project to keep myself awake.

Motorola's Innovator's Challenge

Started with another challenge, namely Motorola's Innovation Challenge. My other team members are "Saurabh Vats" and "Shekhar Kumar". Thought to write a blog about it, as then experts could comment on how to improve our idea.

"We propose an effective information system which works in a bidirectional way for the doctor and the patient to provide information to both parties and hence maintain a synchronization for much more effective method of Vaccination. The system is capable of taking the input information of child birth other related things then it can process the data to generate a schedule for child vaccination. It can also keep track of the doctors devoted to the area and can send them related information, hence a doctor is automatically informed for when, where and how many children need which kind of vaccination."

Now, dealing with technical side. There will be a representative from a group of villages who will give the information about newborns via SMS, Call or postcard. The difficult one to implement is communication via SMS, where the data will be updated in the database directly through a Single SMS.

We plan to do it using a Server (Running Debian), use KMobileTools which will actually work when a new SMS arrives on the phone connected to the server through Cable. The new SMS will trigger the script which will update the database.

Now this database can be accessed by any doctor through Websites or through notifications on mobile phone through SMS.

I am definitely convinced that our team can make this challenge come true.

TechTatva08, GRE, TOEFL, Being Category Head, B-Plan and so much more

So TechTatva08 is over and I was Category Head of PARAM, which organizes all the Computer science event and I am glad that we changed the definition of all the events and even introduced a Mega event named MobiVision, where students were required to make mobile based applications. It was this event which witnessed that even a First year student of engineering can innovate in a manner that many seniors kept wondering "How can freshies develop applications, that too working on Mobile phones!!"

The category head tag holds many responsibilities, its not about power that lies in your hand but its more about how can you resourcefully direct that power to make a constructive result. I am really one lucky chap who got first hand experience of many things which I always dreamed about, and this was one of the thing which I thought I could execute better than my seniors and to some extent I was successful because of a Wonderful team which consisted of every regular member of LUG Manipal and also bunch of First year volunteers who had the zeal to work for hours.

GRE TOEFL are already over, and I am about to start applying to different universities. MS in wireless communication is what I dream about now, wireless is a passion that I am trying to follow. Lets see if I get admitted this year.

Being S60 Ambassador

I was doing my project in Project Lab of our college today.

I am developing my project with help of Python for Series 60. So my friends asked me about Series 60, as most of them were aware about Symbian Operating System but Series 60 was something new for them.

I had to make them clear that S60 supports application development in Java MIDP, C++, Python also that it is most common user interface on Symbian phones.

They further asked me about which phones actually support S60, Nokia being one of the most popular Mobile Manufacturer here i gave example of Nokia phones having S60 support.

Reaction was amazing, they promised to look out for more facts on S60.

TechTatva is the name of Technical Fest of Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, India.

TechTatva 08 will showcase many events ranging from Robotics (manual, autonomous and Image processing ones), Circuitry Events to Paper Presentation events.

But the one that will be totally redefined will be PARAM ( Events under Computer Science Category)

The Events falling under this category are,

1) MobiVision 1.0, the version itself conveys the message. This event mainly focuses on those guys who are innovative at their work, can think of new ideas and implement them to make life easier.

Mobile being my first choice was chosen, as I feel there is lot to explore in this field.

This event will be first of its kind. Lets hope that Neil Armstrong saying "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind" holds true for this event.

2) CodeBytes , the event focuses on those guys who love to be called "Experts", "Bond", "Godly" when it comes to programming or so called HARDCORE PROGRAMMERS.

3) Jour, its means "day" in french. This event changes the NiteOut Event format, the Software Developers will love this event as they will be pushed to limits to make software which will be beneficial for some real life situation.

4) Puzzle_Mania, You adore Puzzles, hungry for them, live with them, then this is the event for you where you would find new Puzzles online everyday during TechTatva 08 ( 8-11 October, 2008)

Last Day at Qualcomm :(

When i am leaving Qualcomm now i am realizing what am i loosing. Two months which were like dream come true period. Best review i can get from my mentor( Mr. Uttam Patanayak) in which he says that i am "Hard working and sincere person. I had done good job in developing Tool", that will be further used by Qualcomm and "Best wishes for life ahead" Thanks Sir, a mentor like you is very rarely seen.

We went for lunch at a grand hotel, food was delicious and team outing was the thing which showed how everyone enjoyed their job. I enjoyed like anything.

Returned from there got Intern's T-Shirt from Madam Shilpi Singh, who was so friendly with us all the time, everyone wished Best Luck for future and really I want to do my final sem Internship at Qualcomm, Hyderabad.

The beauty of sport lies in its unpredictability and the challenge of

sport lies in rising up to the situation. And this is what one

witnessed in our match with IBM on saturday.

IBM won the toss and chose to bat. Our captain Satyam Borah and

strike bowler Shiva were not available for the match. Rajasekhar

Gandhi captained the team for this match.

And the situation was totally not favorable to the "new" new ball

pair of Shubendra and Nickle... well, the bashing was a little too

harsh on us too. IBM went upto 80 runs in 4 overs! A bowling change

did the trick - well not exactly the bowling change, but a nice run

out by the wicket keeper Santhana alias Sandy ;-), ensured that we

get the first breakthrough.

The next over saw a wonderful catch being taken by Chandra. Running

all the way from long on to mid on, he pulled off what many would

have dismissed as something impossible. And the very next ball, Sandy

stumped their 3rd batsmen. Gandhi was bowler. Gandhi soon took their

4th wicket and IBM was suddenly reeling at 90-4. Talk about

unpredictability in sport!

The next bowling pair of Chandra and Vaidya were just not satisfied

with maintaining the tempo, so they upped it!! Chandra took 2 wickets

for 12 runs in 4 overs, and Vaidya took 3 wickets 16 runs in his 4

overs. A catch by Rajeev ended the IBM innings in 16.4 overs at 132 runs!

Special mention has to be made about our fielding here. The agility

of the players clearly helped in controlling the scoring rate all

through the innings. Brilliant catches by Chandra, Sumit and Gandhi

surely inspired the others to live up to the high standards thus set.

Catches, after all, do win matches :-)

Our opening batsmen Vaidya was in no mood to wait for a long time to

complete the match. His 48 runs came in 25 balls and this included

four 6's too. And ohh btw, twice the ball was lost outside the

stadium! By the time he got out, we were comfortably placed at 75 for

1 in 8 overs. And then a small mid-order collapse of 4 more wickets

did create tension though.

With 6 overs left and about 35 runs required. Shubendra Singh and

Gandhi steadied the innings. When Gandhi eventually got out, we

needed 12 runs off 9 balls. And the last over required us to score 7

runs. Sandy and Shubendra completed the job with 3 balls left! The

challenge of beating IBM was thus accomplished in a thriller!

Surely, the entire match was a totally perfect team effort, with the

captain truly leading from the front and all players complimenting

each other superbly. To beat a big team like IBM is no mean

achievement, and to accomplish this without some key players just

makes the achievement more worthwhile :-) Kudos to the team, and good

luck for the future!

Awesome cricket match against IBM, we won, summer internship rox at qualcomm....

Cricket tournament going here at Hyderabad between different Company's like TCS, Kotak Mahindra, IBM, Wipro etc. and off course Qualcomm is participating in it.

Match was in a Ground with good turf but it was pretty dried up wicket so no mercy for bowler's. But if the bowler like me bowling after 5 years with new ball, the situation can be pretty bad to worse like 1st over 35 runs for no loss, with 2 boundaries in the over.

Situation was handled by Gandhi our truly deserving captain, Nitin the level headed bowler, Kaustubh Vaidya who can spin bowl like anything and last but not least Chandra who is perfectionist. IBM made 132 in 16 overs all out.

My situation was pathetic, i thought i will never play cricket anymore. But the guys were awesome they understood my situation and cheered me up Chandra, Sumit, Arun, Rajeev, Gandhi and Sandy esp.

I thought just one thing if we lost today its just because of me. But destiny had some good moments reserved for me later in the game.

Vaidya and Sumit are left hander batsmen that resemble Jaysuriya and Gambhir in their style of cricket. These guys made 72 in 8 overs, obviously in this situation we were winning very easily.
But situation changed and we were 97/4 in 14 overs, Sandy had pushed me up the order before him, now i knew this was my moment.

I and Gandhi played for another 4 overs with bringing the situation to 12 runs needed in 2 overs. I was trying to be a pinch hitter but then ball wasn't really coming, I just took singles and then Gandhi was given out as LBW but it wasn't right decision at all, "umpires decision is last decision" and we honour it.

So situation was 7 runs needed in an over, Sandy a fast runner between the wickets took a double on 1st bowl, single on second and i hit a four over the covers to lead Qualcomm to win over IBM by 5 wickets.

Ya Destiny always shows you the position where you have to take a decision, i took and got best memories of my life. A very happy ending to a very happy summer internship at Qualcomm.

Dreams: The mysterious One's

Places i visit become mysterious when i feel i have been there, like "Shivji ka mandir at Bajinath, Himachal Pradesh (North India)" luckily i also got its picture.

This temple is completely made of stone, as you might be knowing this stone can be found only in central and southern parts of India!

Now moving on to dream i saw yesterday, it was like i was standing at the peak of mountain looking back what i gained what i lost. I saw this girl in pink salwar kurta couldn't recognize whether i have ever seen her, but she was beautiful.

I kept seeing these frames, where like in every era i was with her, seriously if i could show you what i saw you will be astonished to see. Still posting some pictures of similar places which i saw her with me,

This was the first one, the whole world is like black and white and there is so much peace that if you even talk you are breaking the silence of graveyard.

I was with her, when breeze hit you and you feel like if you were to die anywhere, you should die at this place.

In the summers, i was with her beside lake that has its splendid scenery.

In different era's, i used to recite poems to her.

Fought so many wars, with ever fearing will i go back and meet her and she feeling the same.

And in the modern times, we used to admire the beauty around.

When someone you know dies....

When someone you know maybe not very familiar but you know the existence of the person in this world, dies you feel sorry for the person and his/her family.

But when someone who is very close to you dies, someone who cared for you and shared some great moments with you dies you wonder why did this happen to him/her? Death is truth of life, i think only truth but still its the most unpleasant truth to hear. Your heart wants to cry out, your brain stops working, there is no way to console yourself, but you need to live with it.

I can't even wonder my mami would die at such a tender age, she was just 45. Her greatest moments of life came now, her daughter got good job, her son got into best college but someone didn't want her to cherish those moments. Destiny can be sometimes so confusing so mysterious that no body could understand why did that incident happen. What would have life been if that incident wouldn't have happeend, if these things were meant to happen then whats the use of living as a human being.

Some questions really have no answers...

Day 28 @ Qualcomm, the change...

Met one of my good old friend Shadab on Saturday, he is doing robotics project in IIIT, HYD. Hard working student toiling for hours to prove his worthiness, as he is the youngest one to work upon a project that is only handed to M.S. students. Meeting old friends always give you a piece of mind.

Yesterday i was seeing one of the best, but uncrowned movie "Rang De Basanti", which shows so many faces of mankind. Frustation of a man giving rise to problems, turmoil in our mind the youths of nation making the world look like battle field.

I really wonder how fearless were all the revolutionaries, how fearless can a man be when he is exposed to those conditions where your imagination can't even pierce in your darkest nightmare.

Some of these revolutionaries were quite affluent, even todays opulence can't match that era's classic taste. But still they wanted to give up all the worldly pleasures, choose the path on which only a man could walk, without even thinking of the extreme consequences.

The movie didn't made me think when i saw itr first time but yesterday i thought what are we doing for the nation, what am i doing for nation? Future of a Computer Science Engineer like me is pretty predictable where one joins a Billion/Million worth software company and work and work untill you opt out to start your own business or join other company.

But i have decided i will try for IPS, will work for it with my friend who is preparing for IAS. Somethings are written in your "Kundli", somethings you opt, but in my case my Kundli and my heart both speak the same dialect.

20 Days @ Qualcomm, HYD

20 days over here at Qualcomm, Hyderabad. My work is going at good pace, and my mentor Mr. Uttam Pattanayak is very helpful and knowledgeable person. Other than him even the other employees are very friendly. We play Table Tennis together, have chats about cricket matches, and whole lot of experience which you gain by interacting with these guys is splendid.

Today especially we interacted a lot with other teams since there was Tech Day of BREW Team and the event was named as Resonance '08 with the theme "Watch...Listen...N'joy!"

Yeah and we interns really watched, listened and enjoyed a lot. We got a Cap with Resonance '08 written on it as we submitted which product we liked which were displayed by the teams.

So what does this team do? All sorts of entertainment products, then some ideas which at least i dreamt about. Let me briefly tell you about them,

1) Tagging images clicked by your mobile phone with the GPS. (Esp. liked this idea and according to me it was best one)

2) Application by which sound from a sender can be varied according to sender's coordinates, speed and orientation with respect to receiver. You could feel the experience of real time sound!

3) A software by which you can change how your mobile phone corresponds when you get a call or SMS. Like changing the vibration type, ringtone (when it should actually ring like after 5 sec of getting a call), then animation played while you get a call, LED blinking etc.

4) RTSP on mobile phone.

5) Video Call (uses 3G deployed in UK and Japan).

6)Biometric recognition in phones.

7) Byte based A/V sync.

Today also came to know that Qualcomm actually makes API for many things like ones listed above, and companies like HTC, Samsung, LG, Spice, Reliance etc., also called OEM here, uses them by building a GUI over it.

I really would like to work in that team, if Qualcomm offers me 8 Sem internship.

Work has been assigned to me here @ Qualcomm, had to learn Perl/Tk. One of the good parts of Perl is that it uses "Regular Expressions" or regexp (for short) rigorously. Then its learning curve is pretty normal so if you are thinking of learning it you can do it in a day, but you need to be familiar with notations, its very close to C but more closer to Python when it comes to OOP's.

Leaving Technical funda Hyderabad is more so like Bhopal it is almost same here except the building part in HYD.

So have reached Hyderabad for summer internship @ Qualcomm.
The arrangements for interns are perfect. The 5 days accomodation they had given comprised of a flat with 3 bedrooms (with ac), a big hall with tv and cushion sofa ( i really love it).
The office is located in IT park better known as mindspace. All software companies have there office here so when you look around you just see huge buildings ( to get an idea innovation center of our college is just 30% of these buildings). All facilties provided to employers here are perfect. But i haven't been assigned any work till now (my 2nd day @ Qualcomm) so feeling really bored, but spending most of my time @ nokia forum for python and learning new things. That is all about Hyd.

PS-> lab grades are out and i didnt expected 'A' in ITT (Internet technologies) lab.

HowTo do Mobile Programming

Programming according to a Non-CS/IT Student is generally making complicated and Senseless programs on Turbo C++, most of us while learning programming get bored by typing a program which can find either sum of two numbers or multiplying two matrices, now who can't do this manually or better with a 991MS Calculator by CASIO.
Most of us like to do things which can show immediate results like making a Paper Balls and throwing at each other! If you fall in this category MOBILE PROGRAMMING is the sub branch of Computers where you need to look at once.
Whenever a mobile is brought into market, marketing guys mainly focus on how to attract the youth, as they are the ones who change mobile phones on regular basis and why do they change it because they either want to witness some rapid change in Technology, where they are eager to see something "out of the Box" like Apple's iPhone or want to see some improvement in their phone like new features in Nokia's N-Series which were not there in Nokia's 6600, here the youth knows what else could have been done in their old phone. Now if you have COOL ideas in your mind, you are the one who should try to make new softwares for mobile phone.
Ok i am interested but HowTo do that? Answer is you need to follow 3 steps, pretty basic ones though

Step1-> Choose a Platform for Mobile Phone or in simple words Operating System (OS) for mobile phone where you want to do some coding. There are plenty of them like Symbian OS (Nokia's Phone uses it), Android (Google's Recently bought mobile Operating System), Openmoko Linux (An Open Source Option where you can modify the OS), Windows Mobile (Mainly seen in Pocket PC), iPhone OS (used in iPhone and iPod Touch) etc.

Step2-> Selected OS, now need to select programming language for that OS on which you could do programming.

Symbian OS supports,

Symbian C++ which needs some Integrated Development Environment like Carbide.C++ but trust me if you are beginner you don't wanna work on it, its difficult to get used to if are not comfortable with Turbo C++.

JAVA ME (Java to Micro Edition), Java ME is a popular option for creating games for cell phones, as they can be emulated on a PC during the development stage and easily uploaded to phones.

Python for Symbian 60, I found it one of the easiest to work upon as Python as a language is very simple, almost close to writing a code in English Language. But some parts of Symbian OS can't be accessed through it, still as a beginner its best option available for you.

Best place where you can find the answers to your Question is Developers Discussion Boards of FORUM NOKIA, but before asking any question please see if it has been previously brought into notice as the guys who answer your questions there gets irritated when you ask a question that has already been answered.

Step3-> Download the Emulator and test your Application
According to Wikipedia, An emulator duplicates (provides an emulation of) the functions of one system using a different system, so that the second system behaves like (and appears to be) the first system.

So if you don't have a Nokia Phone no need to worry as you can easily test your applications on the Emulator.

These were the 3 Steps you need to know before actually starting coding. More importantly "IDEAS" is what everyone is looking for, so just find the things you want your mobile phone to do and maybe everyone wants that feature in their mobile phone after you implement it, means lots and lots of $$$ in your pocket.

BITS GOA: You Guys Call Yourself Best Private College

So after facing a tragic end of the BITS GOA Drama, i completely lost faith on BITS GOA Guys.
Ok it goes like this i had been there for their Techfest Quark'08, won I prize in Paper Presentation Event, my friend Ayush Pranshu won II prize in same category, after giving us our certificates they told that cash prize will be delivered to us in a month, but it wasn't. When i asked them about it they replied "NO MIT GUY HAS WON IN PAPER PRESENTATION COMPUTERS SECTION" and it was like slap on my face...dude how would Archimedes feel if someone told him you didn't do anything...not comparing with the great guy but it hurts...Guys money doesn't matter that much to me but you should have been at least thought of a better reason to justify it....

Google Intern Interview

So had Google Intern Interview today at about 5 p.m. The guy who interviewed me was Nikhil.
He started by knowing my Project on Extended Smart SMS Converter. He more so emphasized on how was i implementing data structures and data base and it took me about 15-20 minutes to convince him that if it can be done without using any thing like that ( My foolishness was that i should have said if database and data structures and all could be implemented there in mobile phone then it would had been better to map each word's corresponding SMS Lingo).
After that he asked me theory questions which was least expected from me to remember, but i answered him partly correct i suppose (wasn't totally blank but had no answer to his question "Are You Sure?").

I think i didn't gave good impression. But thats what Project i had done and thats what i remembered about my course at that time. No problem if they think i can give them new ideas (which i am 100% sure i can) they will select otherwise ...

Time to Write Something

Ok it has been like almost 6 months when i wrote my blog...i never enjoyed writing blog by the thought of whom am i writing it for? but today i was going through my own blog and ya u feel good after reading it...a sudden rush of memories...so past 6 months were best in my life, let me start month by month

Nov 07-> Able to set up LUG Manipal .... its up and running smoothly...my part has been just like a dummy moderator for now but i suppose next sem i will be taking classes on "How To program ur Mobile: PyS60"

Dec 07-> Had end sem exams till 11 dec,07 got great marks 8.92/10, never expected to get that much....ok after then it was even more exciting i was at my free will to work for as many hours i like on the thing i liked most "Implementing my idea into real solution"...ok ok let me tell u abt it...i was in class once taking notes...i saw my teacher writing "someone" on black board and always i like to note down in SMS lingo ....like i noted down it as "som1"...so i thought why not mobile does that means why should we think and write SMS lingo y cant a message written in Comprehensive English be changed to SMS lingo by a software like if i write "accelerate" and use software it changes to "xlerate".
This idea came along with about 5 other ideas for mobile phone in 5 sem....and ya that time i came to know what i was made for...so i decided that i will stay back in winters break and do something which i will appreciate. But how to program in mobile phone was a Big Question...so i searched in the sem itself i came to know abt Symbian C++ ( tried to learn but couldn't get it), J2ME (totally different than ur normal Java and as such i hate Java) and then i found my destiny Python ( i had a good acquittance with it since i had seen it in my 2 year and i totally loved it).
That winter break payed me off really...first of all I won II prize in international conference where there was Students Paper Contest...i got prize for telling what i was doing in my project the algorithm part...project name was "Smart SMS Converter".....My project mate was Kamna Sinha...We made the algorithm together and i implemented it...i think wasting ur time on thinking about how algorithm will work is far better than learning a whole new language...i sticked to it and ya i got results...

Meeting with Kamna was also luck i suppose...see she had been for the same course which i did in iit Kgp...we had a common friend so we knew each other but not that much and during the course also we didn't talk that much only abt how course was going on and all the stuff...then after coming back to college we didn't even saw each other for next TWO months...i thought she must have left college but then one day we had this treat in "Purple Edge Disc" and i saw her then we talked and she said in middle that she had this "international Conference" organized by her dept.(IT) so she is willing to participate in it, but she had no partners in it so i asked if i can join her and she said yes...so i saw what she was planning to do mostly research work on Networking but it was impossible to do that kind of research in just 2 months with that too exams in between...so i told lets implement any one of idea i was thinking about for mobile phone...

Jan 07-> So i won the prize in front of my mother...she came down to Manipal just to see how her kid presents a paper and she was the Happiest person at that moment...ok so went home with her...stayed for 12 days and college reopened...i had submitted this project idea in iit bombay's techfest under event "Qualcomm Innovator's Challenge"...we were shortlisted to top 10 ..called to iit bombay and guess what we won there III prize...and i loved it...

Feb 07->BITS-Pilani,Goa Campus organized its Techfest and we won I prize in paper presentation...but after that there was like a void in my life...see when u do a project of ur own u r attached to it...its like a baby to u...and when its finished u think abt what to do next?...so we "in a day" completed the reverse process of our project that is convert a SMS Lingo back to its original form like "xlerate" back to "accelerate". Again a void no work to do....

So i applies in Manipal DOT Net a company which gives software solutions...i was given a project on making a management system using Ruby on Rails (RoR)...i didnt had a clue about Web Programming that time but i thought y not take it as challenge? learned the basics of it and implemented my project to abt 15% when i was told that client has backed up from RoR to PHP another interesting language but not that interesting to me...because i thought if a thing can be done in a better way y to do it in conventional way? So i left MDN at that time...but i will complete that project...

March 07-> I was getting frustrated because i had no work to do and the work being offered didn't interest me like "Image Processing using VC++" means what the heck why do i need to learn VC++ for that purpose? Idea is what is most imp thing...and i had idea abt enhancing the image but no body cared so i left it and went home for some break there i realized that anybody should follow his/her interest...and thats what i thought i will do...

April 07-> Had done a very small project but more important was idea behind it...it is now at Nokia Code Examples ...but i followed my interest...had applied at many places for internship but most of them didn't found right candidate in me

Nokia-Siemens Network, Google India, iitm, iitb results still awaited.

But i think y rejection took place was because these companies look for how can u solve a puzzle may be a gud process to know how a student is...but i feel its better to ask a student what he is good at rather than what he can be good at....

So pretty long blog...now exams time starting but in summer break i will if i get selected doing internship at some place or be doing what i like the most implementing my Ideas...just got two good ideas recently...ok bye and take care...

slept after having dosa + vada + lassi +amul kool+again lassi at 2:14 pm today woke up at 4:38 pm and thought it was like 9 in the evening could hear and sense rain...(hey i am not time table freak but when i was going to sleep and woke up i just saw the time in lappy and thought time just passes by you thats a different matter all together....)
so today no work and all movies day...got a holiday after like 17 odd days...but seriously after given a routine and when you really like it you dont want to rest in your room....
tomorrow is prateek's maths paper...he will pass easily in this paper for sure...but the next paper he has given up all the hopes...GOD nobody will ever believe its the same guy...i know this guy from last 8-9 years who is a real genius can do anything he likes but will perform fair enough for the things he is not even made for...i think somethings change so drastically in your life that you are not even answerable at times...you just have to wait so that phase passes by...
but acting like a loser is no excuse...fight until you suceed should be the motto of life...he will understand this one day and it will come very soon in his life...pv never expect life to be a bed of roses you have come here you have to show you were meant for here....best of luck....

day1->first day i start writing something or rather making some good use of my keyboard.

kgp->iit kharagpur,west bengal i started here i am here for summer course on networking

living here with my friend prateek, learning many things from him especially music so deep yet so simple just a series of sound signals making such a deep impact on our brain that we easily get high....esp i liked pink floyd they really are great in their field but others are also great...first thing that i learned in kgp is that every person is respected for whatever they do....dedicated guys here really...but do lots of masti have there own ways...frustated for girls which also most common talk during dinner...but guys are cool here...just do there job dont have any excuse any time...job taken has to be done...then found out there is a whole club dedicated to linux ( my new goal to learn) users here...enough for day1 ....
